A world of film is coming to the Fraser Coast, and we’d love you be part of it!
After a successful inaugural festival in 2025, Fraser Shorts Film Festival is back, bringing the work of local and global short filmmakers to Hervey Bay and Maryborough screens.
Delivered in partnership with Screen Fraser Coast and a host of passionate local supporters, Fraser Shorts offers a great night out for the community, while celebrating what makes short film so great.
Screen Fraser Coast President, Amy Friesen, said the event was unique on the Fraser Coast, and offered something bespoke to the region.
“Fraser Shorts is a celebration of short film and the creative voices that shape our local and global screen industry,” Mrs Friesen said.
“We’re building a place where filmmakers can be discovered, creatives can connect, and the Fraser Coast can experience a collaborative world of film right here in our own backyard.”
The festival will run across three days, from October 23-25, with screenings in both Hervey Bay and Maryborough, including a special Student Film Screening and Awards Wrap Party.
Mrs Friesen said having multiple screenings and including the local student films in the mix allowed the whole Fraser Coast community to experience the films, while supporting a range of creative genres.
“From bold emerging talent to established professionals raising the bar, FSFF showcases the creativity, imagination and diversity of short-form filmmaking,” Mrs Friesen said.
“It’s a space to dive into the world of film and experience stories that stay with you long after the credits roll.”
Some of this year’s FSFF Awards will include Best Short Drama, Best Short Comedy, Best Student Short Film and Best Local School Short Film.
